4. Summary

 – This Regulation aims to ensure a continuous and secure gas supply within the European Union (EU), particularly for protected customers during severe weather conditions or supply disruptions.
– It establishes preventive action plans and emergency plans at both national and regional levels, as well as the formation of gas supply risk groups to enhance cross-border cooperation.
– Member States are required to designate competent authorities, coordinate with each other and with gas undertakings, share responsibility for gas supply security, and apply the “energy efficiency first” principle when selecting appropriate measures.
